What’s this? Wall to wall sunshine today, blimey that was a change! We waited until about half past eight before leaving our mooring today as we wanted to stop at the Ashby Boat Co for diesel. We weren’t sure what time they opened but thought they would be open by 9am.
As it happened they had opened at 8-30am but no matter we weren’t in a hurry. We got diesel for 72p a litre with a 80/20 split. We left there just after 9 and travelled 8 miles to Bulking Bridge where we temporarily moored and got the bus to Nuneaton to top up the beer supplies both draught (in the pub) and cans for the boat!
When we got back we travelled a further half a mile to Bridge 3a which is the railway bridge (I told a lie and said it was Bridge 4 in a previous post) and moored again. Ken is once again fishing but he hasn’t been very successful thus far! He was trying to fish last night but it kept raining and he was in and out like a fiddler’s elbow. Opening the cratch, shutting the cratch, casting out, reeling in! No wonder he didn’t catch anything.
Tomorrow we are off to Hawkesbury for a couple of days. More stocking up with supplies, at Bedworth this time.
