Armitage to Brindley Bank – Just outside Rugeley!

Tuesday 20th April

We have travelled the vast distance of 2.5 miles today! Firstly we stopped off in Rugeley for supplies. We winkled our way into the last mooring just before the bridge, where they were supposed to end, according to the Nicholson’s – only to find loads of brand new, empty ones further on when we walked to the town, typical!  Anyway we spent a couple of hours looking round the shops ……………. Oh, all right, we did happen to stumble across a Wetherspoon’s and with Rollercoaster at £1-75 a pint it would have been churlish not to! We did go to the shops as well mind.

After this expedition we decided to move on and find a mooring for the night. By now it was REALLY windy, not good for narrowboating. Only a little while later we found a lovely spot! Just past Brindley’s bank over the aquaduct. There are moorings on both sides of the canal here – just as well as when Ken tried to moor on the left hand side he got blown over on to the right hand side! Nevermind it’s ok here, the view is the same!

As it was still quite early we decided to try and get George out for a constitutional. We had a really nice walk and he went like a train as it happens. It had got out quite hot by then, despite the wind and he was struggling a bit by the time we got back as he hadn’t had his mid walk rest at the pub, much to his disgust!

I have ressurrected my old camera, so there are a few photos again!
