Weather Delay

As you can see by the lack of new and exciting posts we haven’t yet left on our cruise. What do you mean you never noticed any difference?

Seriously, we had hoped to leave last Thursday but the weather was so appalling, freezing cold and very wet with a strong wind, we decided not to. As there was quite a bit of rain yesterday afternoon the river level has gone into the red today so we can’t go yet anyway. The forecast is not too bad for the next couple of days so when the level drops sufficiently we are going to go, hopefully next Tuesday. We could have gone yesterday morning before it rained but we would now be stuck somewhere by the high river and we may as well stay here as anywhere. You are probably thinking we will have to put up with the weather, whatever it does, where ever we are after we leave here. That’s true but we thought as we are in no particular hurry we may as well get a reasonable start weatherwise. We would like a clear 3 day run up to Sawley to avoid the Trent in flood. Then we will be on the Trent and Mersey Canal.

So Tuesday it is then. By the way don’t forget to check out George’s pub reviews now started in the gallery. He will be very sad to leave his favourite one but we will find lots more for him to try no doubt!
