I know you’re all agog for news of my helmsman’s course but I have decided to keep you waiting for that. Instead I am going to entrall you with news of our boat ‘improvements’.
The shower has finally stopped leaking………….ta da! This could be something to do with the two tons of silicone sealer both Martin and Ken have applied to every join, nook and cranny which looked as if it could leak. Hurrah!
The back boiler is working marvellously. The heated towel rail in the shower room and the radiator in the bedroom are both really hot. The temperature in the bedroom this afternoon was 20 degrees! The water is as hot as it was when we had the immersion heater on, so that’s great. I was having a bit of trouble getting the fire to draw as the back boiler obscures the chimney a bit but now, after a few minor adjustments, I have things under control. The only problem is that the pump, which is in the back room, seems to be constantly running. This is not a problem during the day but is a bit of a pain at night, especially if you wake up prematurely because it seems REALLY loud! I expect we’ll get used to it, or else work out how to regulate the temperature so it goes off. We have bought ear plugs just in case!
