Nearly There……(couldn’t go past the Hope and Anchor!)

An executive decision was made this morning, after seeing the weather forecast, with heavy snow predicted for later today – get back to Thurmaston asap! So we set off at 8-30am and went for it. It was a bit cold to start with but after we had the idea of having the fan heater on in the back room, blowing warm air up our legs, it was lovely! There was a little drizzle earlier but mostly it has been a dry day. There certainly is no sign of snow………….. thus far.

Once again there were more boats on the move than we saw on this stretch of water in the Summer, quite uncanny! Our journey took just under 7 hours, without breaks (no we haven’t been to the pub today…………yet!) Fortunately it wasn’t as cold as it has been, we wouldn’t have been able to do 7 hours on Sunday, for instance, as it was bitter.

We are now moored a little way past the ‘Hope and Anchor’ at Syston, following another executive decision, which was to avail ourselves of the ‘Two Steaks and a Bottle of Wine for £15’ offer this evening!  And why not indeed? We can always get back to our own mooring, provided there is no one else in it (has been known!) tomorrow.
