We have had a lovely day today, travelling from Trent Lock to Zouch. After a pretty cold start, with frost and a bit of fog, the sun came out and it was nowhere near as cold as yesterday, thank God! Fortunately I remembered to empty the loo before we left, hurrah!
There were a lot of boats about today, so we are gratified to find we are not the only mental idiots on the waterways in these conditions! Apparently the Soar was closed yesterday as it had risen 6 inches so there were several people, a day behind in their post Xmas journeys, taking advantage of the better weather to catch up.
We managed to get George out for a little toddle this afternoon. He hasn’t been for a walk since the 23rd so he needed to get out. However, Ken and I had already snuck off to the pub earlier without him. A good decision as it happened because being bank holiday Monday there were lots of dogs in there.
When we returned I decided to do a bit of washing. This was necessitated by the plaintive cry from my husband stating that he had run out of clean pants! As we are still a bit cautious about using too much water, in case of another freeze, I did this by hand. I also decided not to use the tumble dryer as it is a condenser one and uses water. To this end I have a pair of pants currently drying in the top of the oven (I kid you not)! I am nothing if not adaptable! Happy days!
