Thursday 1st August
Phew it’s been another hot and sticky day today. We have moved 4 miles from Saul Junction to Shepherd’s Patch again. We are moored in nearly the same place as we were last week, unfortunately with no shade! The inside temp got up to 31 degrees this afternoon and is 28.8 degrees as I write! Hopefully it will cool down some more before bedtime.
After we got here we had a sandwich then we went off to the little shop at the bridge to see if they had a paper. The chap said they had sold out of spares but we could order one for tomorrow. We ordered the I and as luck would have it he had just finished reading his own copy of today’s I so we bought it off him! He put the 20p in the charity box.
We then went to The Tudor Arms and sat outside with a pint of Thatcher’s cider listening to two very boring conversations (serves us right for ear wigging I suppose), one about cycling and one about someone’s trip to Africa.
This afternoon it has been too hot to do anything remotely useful so we haven’t! No change there I hear you cry. I did cut Ken’s hair later and then of course I had to hoover. We had salad for tea so we didn’t have to put the oven on, remember the day we had the lamb casserole?
This evening himself has been fishing and has caught all manner of things including some rather lively eels! His favourite (not)!
Tomorrow we are going back down to Sharpness for a couple of days.
