Gloucester back to Saul Junction – On our way to Sharpness – again!

Wednesday 31st July

After a sanitary station stop and another Sainsbury’s visit we have travelled 8 miles back to Saul Junction. We originally moored up about half a mile from the bridge. From here we walked over Saul Bridge, stopping to get washing and drying tokens from the bridge keeper, past the marina and in to Frampton village where we went to The Bell.

We started off sitting outside but a shower forced us to go in. There were very few available seats as the pub and restaurant were rammed! I asked a very nice, large gentleman if he minded if I sit next to him and he said ‘ No, you carry on my lovely!’ The manager was rushing round like a blue arsed fly (he shouldn’t even have started work until 3pm) and he said they had been caught on the hop as it was usually quiet on a Wednesday.

We walked back to the boat via Fretherne Bridge and along the tow path, avoiding the temptation to go in The Stables Cafe for a cream tea! When we got back we moved up to be nearer the laundry so I could do the washing and drying. Ken spent the rest of the afternoon playing with his maggots and titting about with his tackle!

Whether we move tomorrow or not depends on what time I wake up!
