We are now at Loughborough, only made another few miles progress today! Things started alright, it was dry and not even really that cold when we left Sileby. The river had gone down a bit and we made it safely through the ‘rapids’, but things went rapidly downhill! While we were filling up with water at Barrow it started raining and before we had made it to Barrow deep lock it was pissing down. Pillings flood lock was an absolute pig as there was something stuck in the paddle so it was taking in nearly as much water as I was letting out! It took both of us to get the gate open in the end. After all this buggering about in the rain we were freezing cold so we decided to moor up at a convenient pub in Loughborough (how lucky was that?) and see if it cleared up. It hasn’t so I have roared up the fire and we are staying put until tomorrow, when we will probably be under 2 ft of snow instead!
The problem with being moored outside a pub is that George knows about it and keeps asking to go out for a wee and then trying to get in the pub instead, crafty little devil! I have tried telling him it is shut but he knows it isn’t! Hope he doesn’t try to drag me in there in my pyjamas when I take him out for a wee before bed!
