And This Week’s Visitors Were………

Hi Everyone,

We’ve been having another hectic week this week. We just about managed to get rid of Julian (after a 2 day hangover!), had a quick clean up of the boat and then, last weekend, Peter and Tim arrived for a short visit (Sat am to Sun am).

We took a little trip up to the Hope and Anchor for lunch (as you do!) then it was on through Junction Lock (again) and turning at Cossington we came back to base as we had promised the chaps a meal at the Indian restaurant. This we duly had and very nice it was too. Then Sunday morning they were off.

Monday morning Mark and Rachel reappeared after their holiday and started sanding Pete’s boat ready to repaint. Unfortunately we were right in the line of fire and ended up covered, inside and out (‘Waveney’, not us personally!) with a fine covering of blue dust! There was much frantic cleaning and dusting on Tuesday because………….

Tuesday lunchtime my friend from school, Linda came to stay. She was here until Thurs so we were able to go a bit further afield. Tues night we went up to Sileby and stayed overnight. We then went on through Mount Sorrell to Barrow on Soar on Wednesday. There was a very convenient pub there and Ken managed to moor us up at exactly 12pm (quelle surprise!)

We had intended to stop overnight at Mount Sorrell on the way back but all the moorings were full so we went back to Sileby and walked into town for dinner. Ken did some fishing later on but nothing exciting was caught……….not even his glasses which had fallen out of his pocket into the river earlier!

Thurs morning we went back to Thurmaston to see Linda safely on her way and returned to the moorings just above Junction Lock for the night (more peaceful than the boat yard). Ken still hasn’t managed to catch a fish (too windy apparently)!

We will return to Thurmaston on Sunday to restock before Mum and Dave arrive for their second visit on Monday. We have the IWA show bank holiday weekend so it’s still all go. How ever do we cope?

Cheers, B.
